Lisa Kudrow was born to Lee Kudrow and Nedra Kudrow. She is from Jewish American descent. She spent most of her childhood in California and for graduation went to Vassar College, where she earned a degree in Biology. She always wanted to work with her father, but one of her brother’s friends noticed her ability of making people laugh and asked her join acting. On his advice Lisa joined ‘The Groundlings’ as a member where one of the members took her under her wings and gave her special training. She started her acting career with a guest appearance in sitcom ‘Cheers’. She was then seen on series like ‘Just Temporary’ and ‘Close Encounters’. Before she was able to get a role on Friends, she was working on ‘Mad About You’ which was not working out well for her.

She then got the role of Phoebe Buffay, on the ‘Friends’, where she played Phoebe for ten years. In the series she works as a massage therapist. She and other co-stars are the highest paid TV actresses of all time with $1 million-per-episode for the last two seasons of Friends. It was her role on Friends that got her six nominations and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, in 1998. Though she played a weird type of character on Friends, but her acting and comedy timings were amazing. Her other television credits include her work in series like, ‘The Comeback’ where she also served as the co-creator, writer, and executive producer. This series also got her an Emmy nomination.

Lisa Kudrow has also had an elaborate and successful film career. She has worked in movies like ‘Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion’, ‘Hanging Up’, ‘Marci X’, ‘Analyze This’ and its sequel ‘Analyze That’, where her comic talent was much appreciated. Movies in which she has done serious roles are ‘The Opposite of Sex’ and ‘Happy Endings.’ Her future movie projects are ‘Bandslam’ and ‘Hotel for Dogs’.

As far as her personal life is concerned, Lisa is married to Michel Stern since 1995. The couple has a son named Julian Murray. When Kudrow was pregnant in real life that was made a part of the series Friends where her character Phoebe becomes a surrogate mother for her brother. Lisa can also speak French fluently and that was also made a part of the series.
